Title: Design, analysis and experimental investigation of vehicle differential with determinable torque distribution
Abstract: The theme discussed in the present work is the torque distribution to the driving wheels of a vehicle which is utilized by the use of a mechanism called differential. The aim of this project is to give a solution to the problem of torque distribution in order to affect the vehicle’s driving behavior. The construction and experimental investigation of a prototype differential is presented in this thesis. This differential has the capability of controlling the torque distribution to the driving wheels. This is done with the use of an electronic device that is capable of recording and processing the signals of sensors and which drives an electric machine that distributes torque and affects the vehicle’s driving behavior. Advantages of the proposed mechanism are the energy conservation and the symmetric design and operation. A key element is the failsafe mechanical operation in case of electronic system failure.
